I’ve posted a few good jokes here on April 1st. There was the immortal “we’re going to Sisters of Elune” and the new dkp program. But this year, the joke didn’t come to me. A few lame ideas popped into mind, but really, nothing worthy of our guild. So rather than put up something lame, this year is going in a different direction.
This year is going to be the opposite of a joke. Its going to be something real or something that could be. Something that matters.

Go to the site, get inspired. Do something real, donate through the site, or spend time in your own community volunteer some time, hell, take a raid night off and read to your kids. Do something.
Do it.
While we are a twenty five man raiding guild, there are those who pull double duty and work to learn the fights on off raid nights. Usually Malatov has been leading these raids, but Gabrieal or Rudolpho will sometimes lead as well.
These ten man efforts are crucial in terms of learning the fights and teaching the rest of us how things go, far more than mere strat reads or videos will go. One of our ten man crews took advantage of the recent 10% King Wrynn buff to down Putricide and Sindragosa on Tuesday.

This leaves us with an Arthas attempt/kill looming on Sunday night, when this ten man crew usually runs. Meanwhile our 25 man roster rand about four short on Wednesday, but we still cleared through Saurfang. Good gear was handed out and this sets us up well for the rest of the week.
Starting this evening we’ll be ending our raids one hour earlier than normal. Out raids now run from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Darkspear server time. Our intention is to run more focused raids for the first three hours then break into ten mans, or battlegrounds, or dailies, or whatever people feel like doing.
That’s the deal.

Yes, its a bit late, but better late than never, both in game and postwise. The Wrynn five percent buff definitely helped out, but so did working the boss over on 10 man between a few squads. I think he was taken down in about 4 or 5 tries.

The night started out with 30+ people on so we were able to fine tune the raid and get things moving quickly. This landed us on Festergut’s front door stop with about 2 hours of raid time left. We ran through the fight many times and made various adjustments. On two attempts we were under 2%. What we needed was some solid learning, and we got it.
On our last try we had to sneak past Valkyrie trash by the ice citadel core and we knew it was our last go of the night due to time and the reality of having to clear trash again. Any reader here knows that as the formula goes, victory goes to the persistent. We are persistent. We won. Grats to all those who kept at it and didn’t give up.
Being so early in the week this has set us up for other encounters in the Citadel. We’re looking at Dreamwalker, Princes, the Blood Queen and Rotface next.
The Queen is dead!! At least on ten man. A very fun fight that we hope to get down 25 man as well fairly soon. This fight came down to the wire, actually past the wire, she enraged killed one person then she died. The next night we came in and had 6 seconds to spare before enrage with different people. That’s what we call progress and learning the fight.

First Steel Legion Kills of Rotface and Queen-10 man
They kept rambling about various crap. We kept up the dps and became familiar with all the mechanics of the fight.
As usual our persistence paid off.
Grats Steel Legion. Monday we’ll head to Lana’thel’s lair.

Deathbringer Saurfang cleared. It took us a few tries to get our strategy down. Given that we were melee heavy we were having some trouble with the blood beast adds, until we turned our lack of ranged dps into an advantage. Our rogues, death knights, warriors and ferals stunned and killed two blood beasts in the span of one or two stun spells.
It’s nice to be able to dial in a fight and see progress attempt after attempt.
At the end of our most recent raiding week we were a few short of a 25 man instance, so we fell back to our two 10 man groups. Each group worked on their own version of Festergut and managed to down him. One of these groups were able to get him without the aid of heroism.
Next week Rotface and Putricide. And more 25 man progress.
This week Steel Legion saw much progress. On the 25 man front we cleared Lady Deathwhisper and passed the test of the airship gun battle. We made a few attempts on Saurfang before running out of time. Monday we will have more.
Two 10-man groups successfully made it into the plague wing of Ice Crown Citadel and one got Fester Gut to 15%. By this time next week, we’ll be working on the Professor.
