There is a Bear in the House

Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

We close this chapter on content with a successful bear mount run. I believe we did it with about two minutes to spare. Grats to Mistborn for the actual mount! Grats to the rest of us for padding our slacker resumes! On the last day possible we score one for the guild.

Like other successful ventures this was a big group effort. Over the past six weeks or so, we have really started honing our ZA runs and developed a crew of about 12-18 regulars who would run the event and learn the speed pulls. It wasn’t until about 3 tries ago, that we were in actual striking distance though.

We were basically hyped up today, knowing this would be our last chance to get the event accomplished. Other people not pictured here who deserve some acknowledgement include Gabe, who was excited about getting us back in here after we basically ignored the place. Eriolanna, Otome and Ronnin, and Jazira who have provided a steady stream of heals, and additional thanks to Delroy for leading the final successful raid.

Tomorrow brings lots of fun stuff with the pre-expansion last patch. We have Black Temple and Hyjal to clear! Hurry up Blizz and get the patch done!

Zul’jin no more

Boss Kills,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

Grats to the clearing crew of Zul’Aman! We’ll keep farming ZA for needed gear while edging closer to bear mounts. Of course the luster of ZA pales in comparison to the fabled loot higher up on Mt. Hyjal and the depths of Black Temple, but everyone needs a styling ride.

Hex Lord Gives up the Ghost

Boss Kills,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

hexlorddown.jpg

After one shotting Nalorakk, Akil’zon and Halazzi, and a few tries for Jan’alai, we came to the Hex Lord once again. It took one respawn attempt worth of tries to figure it out, but we pressed on and made the ‘arduous’ clear once again to Malacrass’ Inner Sanctum.

After several learning fights we decided to kill the dragonkin side kick and cc the other three adds. This left us with barely enough health and mana to finish Malacrass before he became too powerful. It will be nice to down Zul’jin’s soon.

Four Flames in Zul’Aman

Just News,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

fourflames.jpg

Given that our raid fell on Easter Sunday we were a bit off on attendance. Real life eggs, chocalate, and family trump wow. But a few did show up and we cleared the first four bosses in ZA for the first time and engaged the Hex Lord. Perhaps there will be more to report in the next few days.

Still no Leo, but Dragonhawk boss in ZA down.

We continue to refine our Leotheras fight. Our weekly agenda includes Mag and Gruul clears for the odd pieces of wanted purples. We even went back in for a Void Reaver trip. We’ll get Leo. We’ve gotten every other punk ass boss up to this point, and he is no different.

But, after our East coast buddies log off for the night, a smaller night crew takes over. Last night we cleared our 4th boss in ZA. Basically we don’t take ZA seriously. Given that we strive for 25 man content, its really a side show. But with even scrap-run Kara raids full cleared, what else is there to do?

So we finally worked over Jan’Alai. It did take us several attempts. And I think by the 5th to last try we started calling it our “last” attempt. But each time it kept improving. Even though we all have “extremely positive” (ie. we hate the place), views of ZA, as long as the hope of incremental progress is dangled before our eyes, we will keep slugging away. When finesse and experience are lacking we use ferocious tenacity to bludgeon our way through an encounter.

At some point, we’ll get to open the gates to the Hex Lord once we get all 4 troll spirit bosses down at the same time.

No Leotheras, So We Ran Down The Lynx Troll in Our Mini Van

Lynx Troll Boss Down

Well,

Basically we need more work on Leo. A few fights a week are not enough to get the discipline we need to clobber that bastard. We took a bit of the frustration of not getting Leotheras over to ZA. Got the timed chest on the Bear, and proceeded to bludgeon our way to the Lynx boss.

We are funny that way. Basically we couldn’t care less if the powers that be at Blizzard took Zul’Aman and closed it down for public health reasons. Hell, maybe the mojo frogs give you warts when you kiss them. Whatever. Troll instances suck. Half the time we are tempted to kill the trolls and leave the loot, as a statement. But if a bunch of nerds make a statement in the wilderness…

Anyway, the Lynx Boss is dead. And we can try our hand at another ass hat of a Troll next time. I think that means the cougar or jaguar, or whoever the hell that is left.

What we are really after is more bosses in SSC. We’ll start the week off right this Wednesday.

Working on Void Reaver Again, Have Halazzi in Sights

Just News,The Eye,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

So our return to Tempest Keep was fun. The bottom line is that we left Void Reaver standing at 29%. With that rate of dps, we were about 3 minutes behind schedule. The fight ended with him enraging. We did improve rapidly through the night; it takes a few times of fighting VR to get to recognize how to avoid the arcane bombs. We can survive, we just have to avoid those early deaths and pick up the damage. We are within striking distance.

Perhaps the best part of the evening was when two of our raid members were out at the meeting stone trying to summon a replacement. They met grievous deaths at the hands of some Horde transfer guild. Reports were that there were about 20+ members out there. I would imagine that they were doing Tempest Keep also.

The call was issued, and answered by the remaining 23 or so Legionnaires in the instance. We flew out to settle the score.

Zheus made it to the ground first and aimed shot one of their summoners. He was peppered with return fire but with 2 healers backing him up, Zheus did not go down. That brief respite allowed the rest of our forces to land and completely dominate the scene. UNIVERSA DOMINION. My screen was filled with kill notes. In a short span of 20 seconds or so, I had accrued 36 honor kills. Some of us had about 44 from repeats. I was killed once near the end. The majority of us never died. Maybe the horde will learn not to mess with Steel Legion near our meeting stones.

Or maybe, we’ll just have to take them to school again.

We finished off the night by working on the Troll boss Halazzi. I think we got him just past his third separation phase. Something like 22% overall. We have some fine tuning to do on that fight.

The week ahead looks good.

Steel Legion Gets Its Turkey Day Bird Early

Boss Kills,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

birddown.jpg
After a heroic fight up the ramp to Akil’zon the Eagle Lord’s platform we nabbed this birdman for the first time. Zul’Aman is much more challenging than we thought, but it is serving as a good motivator for us to become even more battle ready.

We look forward to more fun in the new instance, but also a return to our efforts against Magtheridon.

[Edit] By this time we had already gotten the bear boss down a few times. Not newsworthy because it was too easy.
