Black Temple Blitz

Black Temple,Boss Kills — Kawaihae

Our humble, mild mannered Sunday afternoon raid started on the old grind of SSC. We thought we’d fetch some more T5 gear for the crew. By the time we got Lurker down, a bunch of us needed to go. So we thought we’d throw together a team of twenty or so people for Black Temple trash and see what it was like.

A few of us had been in before, but got pasted by those speedy little patting water ads. Well today was payback time, and today was our first completely official entry into Black Temple.

Those watery pats? The twenty of us went in and clobbered them. With a renewed sense of purpose and a few more people logging in, we kept pulling the real trash further in. In a surprisingly short amount of time we stood before Naj’entus.

After 5 or so tries, and multiple rearrangements, we had solid healing and healthy dps. Lately we have been melee heavy, and in many of these fights its not optimal. But at the end of six attempts, we got saved to the instance by killing our first Black Temple boss. Shell boy down.

But we were there to explore, and wanted to know what was just around the corner, past the pack of small water elementals. That quick climb took us out into the Illidari training grounds and within sight of Supremus.

That encounter was much quicker to learn. In three or so tries we had him. The key was survival. As the old adage goes volcanoes makes your dps go to zero. As soon as we reliably deployed those life skills we won.

Earlier this week we put two full nights of learning into the Kael’thas fight. We’ve gotten into phase 4, but just barely. We are about to secure phase 3. We know that that encounter will be worth the few weeks of learning. But in the meantime, we’ll bask in this fun day of Black Temple blitzing.

Another Boss Kill in Hyjal

Boss Kills,Hyjal — Kawaihae

Last night was the end of the raiding week and we had just completely cleared SSC. Having a little more time in our raid schedule, we decided to head up to Mt. Hyjal.

Winterchill and Anetheron both coughed up loot very quickly. We sent our miners ahead for gems and figured that while we were there, we might as well try a new boss. Only a few of us had even read the strats. So we took a little time to read them and figured out a plan.

Fighting a new boss is fun. It’s been about a month since we’ve hit new content, so this was a treat. The new monsters, especially the frost dragons, were very different. After clearing the waves Kaz’rogal came into the Horde camp. About two minutes later, he too was dead.

A first time one shot. I am pretty sure that that’s a guild first. It’s nice to hit a really easy boss once in a while, isn’t it?

Looking ahead to the next week, we are going to concentrate on the Kael fight. Several of us are exalted with the Sands of Time, and we want our rings. We want the glory, some want the title, most would like T-shirts. T5 Shirts that is.

Zul’jin no more

Boss Kills,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

Grats to the clearing crew of Zul’Aman! We’ll keep farming ZA for needed gear while edging closer to bear mounts. Of course the luster of ZA pales in comparison to the fabled loot higher up on Mt. Hyjal and the depths of Black Temple, but everyone needs a styling ride.

SSC Owned!!

Boss Kills,Just News — Malatov

Well after about 4 nights of solid attempts on the Vashj, the “bitch” is dead.   No longer protected by her stupid shield generators (come on Blizz, this is Warcraft not Star Wars Galaxies, what up with these shield generators), twenty five strong we burned her down through Phase 2.

The night started out very well, first attempt 3 generators down.  As each attempt came and gone we tweaked little pieces.  Our final attempt was a thing of beauty on the sheild generators. Striders were dying with 8-10 seconds before the next one would pop, Elites where hunching over in pure agony as his brother would spawn.

Lots of vent communication to toss the cores to the right people.  On the last shield generator, we had one Strider and one Elite, the perfect expected amount.  Arrows flew, frostbolts flared, and lightning crackled through the air to burn down that Stirder.  Shadowbolts whipped past our Legioniares through a consecrate to Enchanted Elementals still pushing there way to Vashj.  Like a tree in a forest, Strider do make a sound when they fall.

Blades turning and paws clawing blendered that last Elite to a bloody pulp.  While shield of our tank slammed into the wannabe Medusa, heals and hot where rolling flawlessly.  When everyone started focusing on Vashi all 25 of us were alive with adreanline pumping.

The Final Stage

Our first true try on Phase 3 was before us.  “Avoid the green Shit!” was the over used motto over vent.   Sporebats started spawning like bees from a hive after you have super soaked it down.  One by one the poison would takes it’s toll, perhaps a healer in the midst of a crucial tank heal and could not move, or the melee who would be rooted in place.  People were running and moving all over the place, and soon there was more green then an Irish Pub on St. Patty’s Day.  ”5%! Green Shit! Move!” some one yelled over vent, potions were popped, healthstones on cooldown, all combat rezzs used, 13 people left.

4%, we lose another dpser and healer, my heart sank, the 1% wipe curse emerged in my head.

3%, tank is still alive, lose one more to the green shit.

2%, the entire instance look green, but 10 still alive and strong, I know we got her..

1%,  green all around me, 4 seconds to rapid fire is up again, I can’t move.  I am praying Sevron keeps her in range.  Then the splattering of green is everywhere, 2 seconds to move, but it is covering everything. Rapid Fire is up, I decide to take the some damage and blow my cooldowns.  1 tick, 1500 damage, pop rapid fire, 2 ticks, another 1500 damage, trinket is up, Bloodlust away, 3 ticks, 1500 more half life, pot, 4 ticks, 1500 more, 5 ticks, I look at the raid 10 people, no one at full life, Sev at 80%, some are below 50%.  This seemed like the longest 1% every.  6 ticks, I am hit by overlapping poision 3000 damage, I know I am dead as I can survive another one.  I look to the ground for a safe spot, just then the cheerful yells come over vent.

She was dead, and we were alive.

Steel Legion Takes Vashj. SSC Cleared.

In the Monday night finale, lead by Malatov, we took Vashj and hearthed with the long awaited three T5 hats. Victory screenshot and good story to be posted soon.

Progress on the Serpent Queen

With the exception of a one shot blitz to the Fathom Lord, we spent the entire afternoon, 16 attempts worth on Lady Vashj. We learned a lot, and refined our technique to the point where we consistently applied enough dps to the striders, and elite nagas. On one of the attempts we were able to get all of the generators down.

Monday and Wednesday might bring us a fresh kill and some new headpiece gear.

But that is not the only instance learning that was accomplished. Below you can see one priest making the levitation jump from the entry bridge platform, while another must have hit some lag and turned more spiritual. The good news on this front was that the other priest got it the next try.
