versus
On the 2nd attempt, greatly aided by a newly conjured Arcane Protection Cauldron, Steel Legion’s G Unit laughed as Medivh’s old man hurled bolt after bolt of ineffective arcane blasts at us. No damage was taken until about 4 minutes into the fight. We put the smack down on this guy with 4 interruptors and managed to avoid the blizzards. The Shade of Aran was soon put out of his misery.
This is what we received:

All in all a great night for Steel Legion.
Epilogue: We then went to the Chess event, which is much harder now, did it. Then headed up to the Prince on the roof. Down to 11% on our best attempt. Not bad. Not bad.
Next week holds more fun. Stay tuned.

The goal was to down the curator in one evening. Goal accomplished.
We did skip the maiden, but without our tried and true Paladin strategy available we decided against a new method.
We further blazed a record to Aran and had many attempts at him. Bringing him to 9% at one point.
Round that off with discovering the Mongoose Enchant, and the Soulclouth Shoulder recipe, we called it a pretty styling evening.
We’ll try later in the week to down Aran, and in any case will have our way with the chess board before next Tuesday.
Rock on Steel Legion
Steel Legion is looking for members of most classes*.

* We are nearly full on rogues, but if your membership is contingent on a bulk application with one or more real life friends coming over then we are open to this.
Monday evening there is at least one rep run scheduled for attunements to Heroics. Jenzil made an event on GEM. Get it in gear and check it out.
Tuesday is Patch day. No scheduled events. Who knows what twists the patches will bring. If nothing else we will probably be doing some quests. Wednesday night we go back to Karazhan. Fresh week. Fresh start. As always.
[Edit Tuesday May 15th] Looks like Patch day is at least one week off. Whoops!

Tonight we head back to Karazhan. The plan is to try out two new warrior tank members and introduce them to the first several bosses. It’s Friday, so we’ll see how far we can get.

There are many Legionnaires who are taking finals this week, so our Karazhan run did not come off. Fear not, a few of us headed over to the Caverns of Time to attempt an Old Hillsbrad on Heroic mode.
At first it was rather easy. Then when you get to the part where you start pulling guards from the prison houses, we noticed that you always get pulls of four or five. Even when you only pull one person. If you manage to get one of the guards, with a watch dog, two more reinforcments appear out of nowhere to help out. Although the humor and morale was high, the crowd control was low. We hearthed. All in all this instance looks like its going to be pretty challenging.
Looking forward to Karazhan, its a lot easier.
The Good News: We can get to the Shade of Aran fight from the Curator in very little time now. We mow through the trash mobs quickly enough to have about an hours worth of attempts on Aran per mob spawn in.
The Bad News: There really isn’t any.
We got him down to 17% on one attempt. We need to fine tune our group makeup, and practice avoiding the blizzards better. Flame wreath, arcane explosion, arcane missles, and Frost bolts are not really that big of a deal. He always had less health than mana. And our interrupts were getting good as well.
Along the way a few purples dropped. We DE’d them.
With a few more attempts we’ll get him. Perhaps on Monday evening.
So last week was a blast. How do you recover from a blast week? You go back at it. We needed to. Whoah. Step back a second. After Clearing the Chess Event last week we did throw ourselves at the Shade of Aran about 4 or 5 times. The plan was to get to know the fight a bit. We did. We learned. We got him to 40%.
Fast forward to this week. We hit the huntsman, Moroes, Maiden, the Wizard of Oz Opera event, and Curator. Last week was not a fluke. This evening we’ll head back and attempt to down the Shade of Aran.
This is Steel Legion. This is what its all about.
