We Clear Kazzak

Boss Kills — Kawaihae

We used the heal through strategy rather than running out. In world rankings, heck even in server rankings this doesn’t really mark anything, but to us its another milestone, another hurdle passed. More victories and fun for us. After people get back from break we’ll be going spelunking in SSC.

The Old Guild and the Caverns

lurker.jpg

He rested for what he believed to be two hours. The moon did not
rise now until late and he had no way of judging the time. Nor was he
really resting except comparatively. He was still bearing the pull of the
fish across his shoulders but he placed his left hand on the gunwale of
the bow and confided more and more of the resistance to the fish to the
skiff itself.

We dip our hats to Santiago in respect. Our struggle with the lurker only lasted about 10 minutes or so on our best try before he bugged out, perhaps at 24% or so. We’ll watch the healing aggro and try not to even think about bugging out the encounter.

Of course, it was great fighting a new dungeon boss, learning the encounter, and slicing through the trash. Something purple dropped for our bear, so we are set for Monday night. Fish Fry in SSC. We know we’ll do better than Santiago, because, the water will be scalding hot.

Steel Legion, Welcome to Serpent Shrine Cavern

Just News — Kawaihae

hellossc.jpg

Our raiding week started off with Gruul one shots, and a Mag clear. This left us with some extra time on our Thursday raid to learn the Kazzak fight a bit as well as test out the trash pulls in SSC. We found the pulls in SSC much easier than our first ventures into Tempest Keep.

Our immediate goals are to get a few bosses in SSC under our belt. Zul’Aman is on the back burner. We’ll always opt for 25 man content over 10. Eventually ZA will fall, but we’ll get to it when we feel like it. The new boss training under Zangarmarsh has begun!

Steel Legion on Void Reaver: Threat Neutralized.

Boss Kills,The Eye — Kawaihae

voidbye.jpg
On our third attempt of the evening Void Reaver became surplus material. On the way we deployed some new strats that allowed us to get to the fight in about 80 minutes. Following tradition, we had people outside the instance lending support, in some cases swapping whole groups out in Al’ar’s room and a few more fine tuning swaps right in the Crucible.

It was exciting to see how we were just slightly ahead of schedule. The unofficial timer had us at 9 minutes and 40 something seconds for the kill. Last week, we were three minutes short. We learn, and we learn quickly. This was a great way to end the raid week.

Wednesday brings new opportunity. We’ll be looking to dredge up Lurker below and put the kaibosh on Hydross in Serpent Shrine Caverns.

Working on Void Reaver Again, Have Halazzi in Sights

Just News,The Eye,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

So our return to Tempest Keep was fun. The bottom line is that we left Void Reaver standing at 29%. With that rate of dps, we were about 3 minutes behind schedule. The fight ended with him enraging. We did improve rapidly through the night; it takes a few times of fighting VR to get to recognize how to avoid the arcane bombs. We can survive, we just have to avoid those early deaths and pick up the damage. We are within striking distance.

Perhaps the best part of the evening was when two of our raid members were out at the meeting stone trying to summon a replacement. They met grievous deaths at the hands of some Horde transfer guild. Reports were that there were about 20+ members out there. I would imagine that they were doing Tempest Keep also.

The call was issued, and answered by the remaining 23 or so Legionnaires in the instance. We flew out to settle the score.

Zheus made it to the ground first and aimed shot one of their summoners. He was peppered with return fire but with 2 healers backing him up, Zheus did not go down. That brief respite allowed the rest of our forces to land and completely dominate the scene. UNIVERSA DOMINION. My screen was filled with kill notes. In a short span of 20 seconds or so, I had accrued 36 honor kills. Some of us had about 44 from repeats. I was killed once near the end. The majority of us never died. Maybe the horde will learn not to mess with Steel Legion near our meeting stones.

Or maybe, we’ll just have to take them to school again.

We finished off the night by working on the Troll boss Halazzi. I think we got him just past his third separation phase. Something like 22% overall. We have some fine tuning to do on that fight.

The week ahead looks good.

Clicky Clicky Clicky. Magtheridon down.

Boss Kills,Magtheridon — Kawaihae

Magtheridon on a pike
First time kills are always fun. First time kills with Steel Legion are great. I can’t exactly remember the progression of the night, but we took about 4 or 5 attempts, steadily making progress, except that um, one pull.

This was a blast. Not just taking a boss down for the first time, but playing a game for the fun of it with nice people. What a concept?!

Anyway, We got into phase three and took 85% of Mag’s health bar away on our 2nd to last attempt. On our winning try, one person died, but it didn’t count as we had a soulstone up. We got some nice purples, and are now firmly entrenched into the realm of 25 man content.

Steel Legion downs Magtheridon

We probably have a few more weeks of running Karazhan before it turns into a casual instance for us. We’ll knock out ZA soon too. But our next gathering point for raids will most likely be Cosmo Wrench. Destination: Void Reaver.

Progress on Magtheridon

Just News,Magtheridon — Kawaihae

We got all 5 channelers down and made it through about 4 reps of clicking on the cubes. Mag was taken to 57%. We are looking at Thursday for more Mag fun.

Steel Legion Gets Its Turkey Day Bird Early

Boss Kills,Zul'Aman — Kawaihae

birddown.jpg
After a heroic fight up the ramp to Akil’zon the Eagle Lord’s platform we nabbed this birdman for the first time. Zul’Aman is much more challenging than we thought, but it is serving as a good motivator for us to become even more battle ready.

We look forward to more fun in the new instance, but also a return to our efforts against Magtheridon.

[Edit] By this time we had already gotten the bear boss down a few times. Not newsworthy because it was too easy.

New Patch, Same Plans

Just News — Kawaihae

bank_tabone.jpg

The recent patch brought new things. We’re using the guild bank system; already people love it. Shown above is the collective work of many dungeon and farming runs for Steel Legion. Some of our resist plate gear for Hydross is there. Other tabs of our bank are used by our members for exchanges.

The patch also brought many nice things to the game. The new troll instance will be delved into this evening, but for us most of our new content awaits us in 25 man instances. Gruul is now on farm. SSC, Mag, and TK is where the bulk of our new content lies.

Progress on Magtheridon

Just News,Magtheridon — Kawaihae

The goal was set at the beginning of the night to get Magtheridon’s channelers completely down. We did. We managed to get our first set of cubers coordinated, and managed to make it up to the second cuber’s beams. At that point Magtheridon was at 87%. Once we get the rhythm of the alternating cuber teams down, we can take Mag to as low as 30%, where we’ll have to deal with the additional fun of cave ins. It was a fun night, and progress was made. In the meantime we continue to gear ourselves up.
